Capstone String Quartet Helps Us

The University of Alabama School of Music recently began a new program to help Strings in Schools. Under the leadership of Mr. Skip Snead, Director, the School of Music has been a partner in this initiative from the beginning.

The Capstone String Quartet is a graduate string quartet - Elwira Kreingel and Matt Fiederlein play violin, Claire Jeong plays viola and Ariana Arcu plays cello. They come to the middle schools each week to demonstrate and play along. They also perform with the students at concerts.

Our Philosophy

Our goal is to develop each student's potential as a musician as high as that level can be. Some students will continue to play their entire lives, and some will play only one year. All who participate will learn valuable musical and personal lessons.

Instrumental music programs are continuous throughout the City Schools. Each year builds on the previous year. Like the band classes, strings class meets throughout the entire year.
